Is it really free?
Yes. There is no account, subscription or checkout. Put in a UK registration and run the check.
Where does the information come from?
Vehicle and MOT information shown by the checker is retrieved from the official DVSA MOT History API. DSBM then turns that history into easier-to-read mileage and defect signals.
Can it show finance or write-off history?
No. The MOT History API does not provide keeper, outstanding finance, stolen or insurance write-off information, so this checker does not pretend that it does.
Can I check an HGV?
Yes. DVSA includes HGV test history where available. Choose HGV / TRUCK before checking and the full distance history is converted to kilometres, including DVSA records originally stored in miles. Car and van checks keep the DVSA odometer unit.
What is the DSBM Signal?
It is an informational score calculated by DSBM from the returned MOT record, including failures, defect severity, mileage consistency and current MOT position. It is not an official DVSA rating.
